Notice to SNAP Members, Donors, and Supporters

SPAY NEUTER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM-SNAP OF NE OHIO is dissolving its 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation. The dissolution of our 40+ year low cost spay/neuter program is totally voluntary. This was a bitter-sweet decision but the Board felt it was the right time. The decision was discussed and a resolution passed. The transition has continued while spaying and neutering as many cats as possible until the time came too officially, which will take place in early 2022 … SNAP worked on a fiscal year calendar, so our accounting firm will file the final IRS990 in 2022 once all of our business has been finished.

From January of 2021 to November of 2021, 1,586 cats have been spayed/neutered under the SNAP Program, and $108,470 has been spent. We want to also take this opportunity to give our sincere thanks to Dr. Eric Pugh and his Hometown Veterinary Services staff for their participation, cooperation and unrivaled support over these last years.

As most of you know, we closed our perpetual fund raiser, the Animal Attic Resale Store, in 2020, and it is now the perpetual fundraiser of AlterCiinic Animal Care, a local low cost spay/neuter clinic, under the name AlterAttic.

The funds that SNAP has left in its treasury (after Hometown Veterinary has been paid in full for their services) will be donated to existing low cost spay/neuter organizations to be chosen by the Board; pursuant to the following: Pursuant to the State of Ohio, and as set forth in SNAP’s Code of Regulations, Article VI Dissolution of the Corporation In the event of the dissolution of the Corporation, any funds of the Corporation remaining after payment of all outstanding debts of the Corporation shall be transferred to a reputable Section 501{c)(3) non-profit organization that is determined by the Board of Directors to maintain programs to promote the spaying and neutering of pets. This little grass roots group of advocates for the animals has accomplished more than anyone ever thought possible, especially us! We have always tried to conduct the business of SNAP (formerly Animal Protection Guild) in an honorable and respectful fashion. There have been highs and lows, laughter and tears, but knowing that everything we were going through was to help the animals made it worthwhile!

The contribution of the thousands of hours our volunteers put in over the years is undeniable; the Animal Attic, fundraisers, auctions, craft shows, candy sales, raffles, fashion shows, and on and on! You truly made a difference for the animals and we are extremely grateful. To our supporters, donors and members: through your donations (both monetary and in-kind to the Animal Attic) we have prevented thousands and thousands of unwanted cats and dogs being born into a world where there just aren’t enough homes. We have hundreds of stories from owners who have used our program and were grateful it was there for them. We have truly made a difference! Please continue to support animal welfare, and especially low cost spay/neuter programs. You may check our website,, for the names of other low cost spay neuter agencies. And, of course, DON’T SHOP/ADOPT! We are proud of our accomplishments and the fact that we have financially assisted in over 100,000 spays and neuters since our inception. Please celebrate this success and celebrate our story; and keep advocating for animals!
